At the heart of the completely redesigned Area-51 X-58 and ALX X-58 desktop systems is the Intel Core i7, currently the world’s most powerful processor. By implementing the groundbreaking microarchitecture in these systems, Alienware achieves a quantum leap in “gaming performance.” The Intel Core i7 processor executes multiple instructions per clock cycle, improving the processing of simultaneous operations. For hardcore gamers, this specifically means optimised physics, significantly improved interaction with the environment, more intelligent AI, and a previously unimaginable immersive gaming experience with pure realism.

Other highlights include:

  • Alienware Area-51 X-58 and ALX X-58 support triple-channel DDR3 memory up to 12 GB.
  • Both systems use the new Intel QuickPath Interconnect to accelerate communication between the processor and components. This provides shorter game loading times, regardless of whether large game patches are being downloaded or other applications are running in the background. With increased performance compared with the previous generation, Intel Core i7 processors guarantee outstanding benchmark results at maximum system settings.

Alienware offers additional highlight features:

  • Customised system lighting via Alienware AlienFX: gamers can use software to adjust the look and feel of their system so that the lighting changes automatically when programs are launched or new emails are received.
  • Alienware CommandCenter gives users central access to other Alienware applications such as AlienFX Lighting and AlienFusion Power Management.
  • Gaming enthusiasts can configure their systems according to their own preferences:

  • Cooling through active air circulation with AlienIce or Alienware High Performance Liquid Cooling.

  • ATI and NVIDIA graphics cards in CrossFireX or SLI configurations.

  • Hard-drive options as single- or dual-drive solutions for RAID 1 or 0, with capacities up to 4 TB.

  • Choice of a 750-, 1000-, or 1200-watt power supply.

  • Advantages of Intel Core i7 processors:

    • Intel’s 45nm manufacturing process delivers higher speeds, improved efficiency, and optimised thermal management.
  • Intel QuickPath Interconnect is designed for greater bandwidth and low latency. The Extreme Edition processor achieves throughput of up to 25.6 GB/s.
  • Intel Hyper-Threading processes two threads simultaneously per CPU core, thereby increasing the performance of a quad-core system.

  • Unlike a 32-bit system, a 64-bit system doubles all processes, improving response speeds and maximising hardware potential.

  • Intel Turbo Boost automatically increases the clock frequencies of individual cores and dynamically adapts performance to requirements.
