Saffire units. The audio interfaces with FireWire connectivity are used for voice-over production at editorial workstations, where they operate in combination with the existing Sony Sonaps production environment and the associated Xpri NS nonlinear editing system. To complement the audio interfaces, the workstations were also equipped with 60 AKG HSC 271 communications headsets, likewise supplied by Media Logic.

Both systems had proven themselves in an extensive preceding on-site comparison test of audio interfaces, communications headsets, headphones and preamplifiers supplied on loan by Media Logic. The Focusrite Saffire was selected for its compact dimensions and convincing audio performance. The audio interface features 24-bit/192 kHz AD/DA converters and two integrated microphone preamplifiers. An integrated signal processor allows individual equalization and compression settings to be recalled automatically for each editor.
