This will translate industrial designers’ ideas precisely into the desired colors throughout the value chain, making color development and manufacturing significantly more efficient and accurate.

The companies agreed on joint development projects leading to new products based on RTT DeltaGen and Datacolor ENVISION. Datacolor ENVISION is color-simulation software that uses proprietary calibration methods to provide precise on-screen color sampling. Combined with RTT DeltaGen visualization software, it creates realistic digital product simulations. Such virtual simulations of color samples can eliminate physical prototypes and significantly optimize color development, saving time and cost while creating a more efficient color-management process.

“By using Datacolor’s unique monitor-calibration and color-management technology, we can display colors in RTT DeltaGen much more accurately and effectively,” explained Ludwig A. Fuchs, co-founder and Executive Board member of Realtime Technology AG. “Our VR solutions benefit because we can visualize reality with still greater precision. In future, colors designed by RTT DeltaGen users will be shown with a very high degree of realism, allowing designers around the world to collaborate more effectively,” Fuchs added.

The Path to an Integrated Color-Development Process

Through jointly developed products and an integrated data flow, the companies will coordinate processes that had previously been separate. The aim is to overcome discrepancies between a designer’s color definition and the product developer’s implementation in the real product. “Together with RTT, we will overcome this hurdle in the color-development process. RTT and Datacolor products can be integrated seamlessly, ensuring a digital workflow between virtual design and the final product,” said Albert Busch, Vice President, Industrial Division at Datacolor. “Designers will be able to exchange their virtual designs efficiently with product developers. The designs can then be turned into real products with a high level of accuracy and cost and time efficiency.”

When Datacolor and RTT first met, they immediately found that they served essentially the same markets and shared a customer base. “Our enterprise solutions are regularly used side by side by customers, but until now in separate departments, with companies accepting the gap between the virtual and real worlds as a given. The need for real color in the virtual design process and virtual representation in production is increasingly recognized. Our partnership will close this gap,” Fuchs and Busch said in a joint statement.
