The autobiography of Bushido, one of Germany’s most successful musicians, is to be adapted for film. Constantin Film is producing the theatrical feature based on the bestseller of the same name by Bushido and his co-author Lars Amend.
The autobiography of Germany’s most successful rap star, published by riva in autumn 2008, has been in the bestseller charts for nine weeks.
In it, Bushido tells his own life story—the story of a Berlin musician of Tunisian descent who, within a few years, rose from a school dropout with seemingly no prospects to become Germany’s most successful musician and a multimillionaire.
At a time of social injustice, Bushido is the idol of a young generation. His lyrics are authentic, provocative and often radical. Bushido’s message to his fans and readers is clear: with an unshakable belief in oneself, everyone has the chance to make something of their life.
Martin Moszkowicz, Constantin Film AG’s Executive Board member for Production, said: “We are delighted that Bushido has placed his trust in us to adapt his successful autobiography for the screen.”
Bushido said: “I set very high standards for myself—in that sense, Constantin Film is the right partner to make a film of my story.”
Filming is planned for early 2009, with a theatrical release scheduled for the following autumn.
