Resistance 2™ – The Resistance Continues!

Action fans have real cause for celebration: Resistance 2™, the eagerly awaited sequel to the 2007 PlayStation 3 launch title “Resistance: Fall of Man,” will be available in Germany from 3 December 2008. With new weapons, new enemies and online battles on an entirely new scale, this title from Sony Computer Entertainment and developer Insomniac Games (Spyro, Ratchet & Clank) is set to cause a stir.

Thrilling graphics, outstanding gameplay

The innovative story, outstanding gameplay and superb graphics were already highly praised in its predecessor, “Resistance: Fall of Man.” Resistance 2 picks up directly where the first installment left off and takes the player across the Atlantic to a besieged 1950s America. The battles are even bigger, the landscapes more spectacular and the story, told from the perspective of hero Sergeant Nathan Hale, even more gripping. The spectacle is rounded out by a revolutionary cooperative mode that lets up to eight players tackle a specially developed campaign together, as well as an extensive competitive online mode.

Gripping storyline

The story surrounding protagonist Sergeant Nathan Hale intensifies: after destroying the alien creatures’ London command center, Hale returns to the United States and becomes part of the “Sentinel” project, a secret organization created by the US government to prepare for the creatures’ impending attack. When the Chimera launch an all-out aerial assault on the western and eastern coasts, Hale and the Sentinels are deployed on the front line as the spearhead of the counteroffensive.

The game’s multiplayer modes revolutionize the world of video gaming. Resistance 2 gives teams a completely independent online campaign designed specifically for cooperative play, demonstrating the importance developer Insomniac Games places on online gaming. Huge battles are combined with levels that change slightly with every new attempt. Up to eight players can face the creatures together and choose from three different classes: soldier, special-operations marksman and medic. Players can also look forward to monumental online battles. In several teams with different objectives—Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Core Control and Skirmish—up to 60 players can let loose via PlayStation Network. Combining group objectives with a huge number of players, Resistance 2 offers a blend of epic battlefield turmoil and exciting close combat.

Extensive new features

The new features include not only the gripping, atmospheric story set against a complex alternative history. In the enormous battles, players also encounter many new enemies, including creatures, deadly machines and fearsome bosses such as the gigantic Leviathan. The team-based online multiplayer mode supports battles with up to 60 players, with each team assigned its own tasks. The cooperative mode also offers several playable character classes: players can wield a chaingun as a soldier, use a sniper rifle as a special-operations member, or heal wounded comrades as a medic.

Numerous new online features and support are also available, including an in-game clan system and an online community with profile pages at http://www.myresistance.net.

The most merciless and vicious threat in human history must be stopped. The next round in this desperate struggle is about to begin.

Resistance 2 will be available exclusively for PlayStation 3 in German retail stores from 3 December 2008 as a Blu-ray Disc, priced at EUR 71.95 RRP. From 5 December, the game will also be available as a bundle with a PlayStation 3 and a DualShock 3 wireless controller. The complete package will cost EUR 399.95 RRP.
