Sonnet Technologies, a leading provider of storage, upgrade and accessory solutions for Apple Macintosh, Windows and Unix systems, is reducing prices for its portable Fusion F2 RAID system. Sonnet’s storage solution offers high speed, reliability and an extremely rugged design. With fast and secure data transfer at up to 134MB/sec, it is the fastest solution of its kind. Sonnet is now offering the 640MB version of the Fusion F2 for €369, a saving of €180. With a total capacity of 1TB, the portable system is available for €549. This price has been reduced by €220.
The enclosure, only as tall as two CD cases stacked on top of each other, accommodates two 2.5-inch hard drives positioned side by side. Its compact dimensions (14.9 x 15.7 x 1.8cm) and lack of a power plug make the Fusion F2 an ideal companion on the road. The hard drives are enclosed in a rugged aluminum housing, and each is mounted separately. This prevents storage errors caused by mutual vibration. By mirroring the drives in a RAID 1 configuration, the portable system also protects all stored data.

The Fusion F2 has two eSATA ports for maximum data throughput and is designed for use with the Sonnet Tempo SATA ™ Pro ExpressCard/34 or the ExpressCard/34 Tempo SATA controller for MacBook Pro and Windows notebooks. Combined with an ioHD box from AJA Video Systems, it creates a mobile capture solution. The ioHD box connects to the laptop via FireWire, while further data transfer to the Fusion F2 takes place via eSATA.
Prices
The Fusion F2 (FUS-F2-640M5) in the 640MB version is now available at a reduced recommended retail price of €369 including VAT. The 1TB storage solution (FUS-F2-1000M5) is offered at a new recommended retail price of €549 including VAT.
The recommended Tempo SATA ExpressCard/34 interface card (TSATAIIE342P) has a recommended retail price of €75 including VAT.
