An award for game productions made in Germany: the Serious Games Award will be presented for the first time on 6 March as part of the 2009 Serious Games Conference. The ceremony is organized by the German Trade Association of Interactive Entertainment Software and nordmedia, the media organization of Lower Saxony and Bremen, in cooperation with the Hessen-IT initiative of the Hessian Ministry of Economics, Transport and Regional Development.
With total prize money of €28,000, the Serious Games Award will be presented in the categories Educational Game, Health Game, Corporate Game and Persuasive Game. Eligible entrants include game developers, publishers, freelancers and emerging professionals based in Germany. Sponsors include Techniker Krankenkasse and Hanover-based Black Lion Studios. A distinguished expert jury consisting of Stefan Göbel of the Center for Graphics Data Processing, Moses Grohé of GEE magazine and Eku Wand of Braunschweig University of Art will decide the awards.
The application deadline is 31 January 2009.
The Serious Games Conference will take place for the third time in 2009 as part of the CeBIT technology fair. Serving as an interface between different branches of industry and science, it addresses a broad international professional audience. This year’s program focuses on corporate games, a term covering industrial applications and simulations for corporate training and education.
