Constantin Film once again demonstrated its reputation as the largest independent this year: the two most successful German films, along with several titles attracting more than one million admissions, were among its 2008 releases.
The Bernd Eichinger production THE BAADER MEINHOF COMPLEX, with around 2.4 million admissions, was the highest-grossing German film released in cinemas in 2008. THE WAVE won the race for the largest audience, with around 2.6 million admissions.
The two Constantin co-productions ASTERIX AT THE OLYMPIC GAMES, with nearly 1.6 million admissions, and CHEEKY GIRLS, with more than one million, as well as CHERRY BLOSSOMS – HANAMI, produced by Constantin subsidiary Olga Film and seen by nearly 1.1 million people, also passed the one-million-admissions mark.
“This result is unprecedented in history for an independent German company,” said Martin Moszkowicz, Executive Board member responsible for production.
