PC users have long been able to rely on Google’s mature Picasa digital image management tool. With Picasa 3, Intel Macs are also set to benefit from the comprehensive photo organizer. The public beta of the new version is expected to offer almost the same range of features as the Windows and Linux software versions. It naturally also provides integration with Google’s online portal and blogging services.

The free tool could therefore become a competitor to Apple’s own iPhoto application.
