Hamburg communications consultancy MediaManagementHamburg (MMH) is looking back on a successful year. Its Interactive business in particular achieved significant growth last year, which is expected to continue in 2009. “In the Interactive business, we succeeded in becoming one of the leading consulting providers for web-based television in 2008,” said MMH managing director Jan Wendt.
“In a very short time, we secured consulting and implementation assignments from more than 25 customers for web-based television.” These range from consumer-goods manufacturers, branded-goods companies and publishers to providers of
sports content. “We want to and will further expand our central role this year. The web on television will certainly be one of the most important consumer-electronics trends in 2009. We are working intensively on the possibilities for the advertising industry, content providers and, of course, consumers,” Wendt said.
At the recently concluded Consumer Electronics Show in
Las Vegas, consumer-electronics manufacturers presented important innovations for
“TV 2.0.” Almost all well-known CE device manufacturers now offer the ability to access web-based content directly through the television. Alongside news and shopping services, video on demand and catch-up TV offerings in particular will shape television’s future.
“We assume that within only a few years, television will become the dominant
interactive medium. The linear television schedule as we know it today will then
belong to the past. Completely new advertising opportunities will accordingly
revolutionize the television market,” Wendt concluded.
