Users of Final Cut Pro, Digidesign Pro Tools and Avid solutions can now benefit more easily than before from the features and integration within Adobe Creative Suite 4 Production Premium. Projects created in Final Cut Pro can now be transferred directly to Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 version 4.0.1, without prior conversion or re-rendering. Effects and transitions used in the projects are preserved. Once the files are available in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4, features such as Adobe Dynamic Link can be used to move assets back and forth among Adobe After Effects CS4, Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 and Soundbooth CS4. This saves considerable time previously spent on intermediate rendering.
The new speech search assists with footage management. The Speech Search feature included in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 converts spoken dialogue into text-based metadata, making video searchable. Finished projects can be delivered on virtually any medium. Adobe Encore CS4 supports output to Blu-ray Disc, DVD and the web. Audio exchange has also been improved: audio can now be exported in OMF format and subsequently imported back into Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 as a finished mix. Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 version 4.0.1 also enables expanded project exchange based on the Advanced Authoring Format (AAF), providing improved integration with high-end workflows and tools.
Native RED R3D Camera Support
Using the RED beta plug-in, available for download at http://www.red.com/support, both Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 version 4.0.1 and Adobe After Effects CS4 version 9.0.1 can provide a true data-based workflow for RED R3D data without transcoding or rewrapping. Native RED R3D data handling complements existing support for tapeless formats such as Sony XDCAM EX, Panasonic P2 and AVCHD. Users can therefore work with entirely software-based HD workflows from acquisition through output. In addition to downloading the RED plug-in, users only need to update to Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 version 4.0.1 and Adobe After Effects CS4 version 9.0.1. Both updates are available through Adobe Update Manager in the applications’ Help menu. More information about RED workflows with Adobe video solutions is available online at http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/pdfs/red_adobe_cs4_beta.pdf
Improved Performance
With full support for 64-bit operating systems, users can now benefit from greater performance and improved responsiveness, significantly accelerating computationally intensive post-production tasks. Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 version 4.0.1 was designed to take advantage of the additional memory available in 64-bit systems. Version 4.0.1 also offers a range of performance improvements throughout the workflow.
