TV-Loonland today announced the signing of an agreement to produce a third season of the successful animated series LITTLE PRINCESS. Alongside established partner and LITTLE PRINCESS producer The Illuminated Film Company, the third season (35 x 11 minutes) is intended to build on the worldwide success of the first two series and specials (2 x 22 minutes), which were sold in more than 165 countries.
The new season, for which British broadcaster FIVE has secured premiere rights for its Milkshake! children’s block, will introduce several new characters and locations. From 2010, a total of 104 LITTLE PRINCESS episodes will be available for television broadcast worldwide.
In the third season, LITTLE PRINCESS fans can look forward to new friends for the young heir to the throne, including the maid’s nephew Algernon, who is the same age, and the stubborn Shetland pony Horace.
New themes, additional locations such as Great-Uncle Walter’s castle and the coastal landscape, and a deeper look into the world of LITTLE PRINCESS promise that the third season will appeal to and captivate audiences just as the first two seasons did.
Iain Harvey, producer at The Illuminated Film Company, said: “For a series intended to maintain a long-term television presence, the quality of the scriptwriters is extremely important. We are fortunate to have an entertaining and imaginative team of writers, ensuring that LITTLE PRINCESS can continue to achieve great success.”
Olivier Dumont, Managing Director at TV-Loonland, said: “Given the great success of LITTLE PRINCESS and FIVE’s continuing support, there was no doubt about our decision to participate in producing the third season. TV-Loonland has been able to build and manage the LITTLE PRINCESS brand from its beginnings in 2006. Looking at the successful past three years, LITTLE PRINCESS is unquestionably a flagship example of our strategy of continually identifying new projects with high potential and establishing them as strong brands.”
