Fotolia Calls for Stock Video Submissions

Fotolia is inviting video submissions before launching a royalty-free stock-footage service at microstock prices.

Fotolia is inviting high-quality user-generated video submissions ahead of the launch of a stock-video service that will add royalty-free clips at microstock prices to its existing portfolio.

“Fotolia has been one of the world’s popular sources for high-quality, affordable, royalty-free photographs, graphics and illustrations for several years,” said Oleg Tscheltzoff, co-founder and president of Fotolia LLC. “In response to strong demand, Fotolia is opening submissions for video. We are looking worldwide for thousands of videographers and artists who want to sell their footage and earn money from their interest in film.”

Fotolia is seeking material including animation, stop motion, animated films and conventional video. Submissions should use resolutions from 320 × 240 through 1920 × 1080, frame rates from 24 to 30 frames per second and durations from five to 60 seconds. From mid-February, the company planned to license broadcast-ready material in several digital formats, including HD, at prices beginning at €10. Video creators could register and upload initial clips at http://de.fotolia.com/Info/Contents/Videos.

Since launching in November 2005, Fotolia had built a large online collection of low-cost royalty-free imagery and provided professional and amateur photographers with access to 500,000 media buyers worldwide. The company positioned low-cost microstock footage as an alternative to traditional stock-video services and an expansion into new markets.
