The airport information system, in operation since 2008, displays changing content. Alongside current information on takeoffs and landings and details such as boarding times, the screens are also used for breaking news and advertising. In cooperation with news channel n-tv, news content and advertising information alternate in a ratio of two-thirds to one-third. Customers booking the airport screens benefit from the high concentration of contacts. Up to 40,000 people are in the airport building each day—and welcome the screen content as a distraction while waiting. Information is transmitted daily from 5:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on 329 42-inch screens and one 103-inch screen. The displays are positioned at check-in counters, departure gates, baggage reclaim areas and public spaces. Customers can choose individually between different networks when booking. Advertisements are then shown every three to ten minutes. There is no prescribed minimum booking period. Screen Visions’ media team therefore gives customers the opportunity to use this high-impact medium for short campaigns as well—for example in advance of a trade show taking place on the neighboring exhibition grounds.
