Weighing 640 grams, the projector is designed to give home and business users greater mobility and flexibility. Its compact dimensions of 136 × 120 × 54 mm give it roughly the footprint of a CD case. BenQ positions the LED Pocket Projector P1 for use in small and medium-sized conference rooms and for large-screen films and games at home. An integrated USB reader allows presentations to run directly from a USB drive without a notebook. The BenQ P1 is scheduled to reach specialist retailers at the end of April; pricing had not yet been announced.

BenQ LED Pocket Projector P1 details
The projector provides 858 × 600 SVGA resolution, a 2000:1 contrast ratio, brightness of 100 ANSI lumens and an image diagonal of up to 1.5 meters. It can display up to 120 percent of the NTSC color space. BenQ rates the LED light source for 20,000 hours, ten times the service life of conventional DLP projectors, eliminating lamp replacement and reducing disposal material. The company also cites lower ownership costs through reduced maintenance, with no lamp replacement or dust-filter servicing.

In addition to the longer light-source life, the P1 consumes less than 90 W during operation and less than 1 W in standby. It can draw power from its own supply or directly from a notebook, avoiding an additional mains cable.
The model combines its compact size with touch controls on the top surface. The control backlight glows blue when the P1 is switched on. Connections include RGB, video/audio and USB, and an optional docking station supports an iPod or iPhone.
The BenQ LED Pocket Projector P1 will be exhibited with other BenQ products from the following day in the Planet Reseller trade area, Hall 25, booth F124.
