Tandberg has introduced Movi, a new business-oriented mobile-video solution for PCs. Designed for quality, scalability and PC-video compatibility, Movi provides high-definition video communication from a PC to any standards-based telepresence or video solution, making video available to users anywhere.

Movi sets a new benchmark for the meaning of “workplace.” In a global business environment active 24 hours a day, companies can no longer afford lost productivity and opportunities when employees are absent. Movi extends the company video network and supports personal communication with colleagues, customers and suppliers anywhere without compromising quality or security.

“Movi removes geographic limits from business. Every employee can maintain continuous visual contact,” said Thomas Nicolaus, Managing Director of Tandberg Central Europe. “Movi adds mobility to Tandberg Total Solution, making our video and infrastructure portfolio the strongest and most scalable on the market.”

Movi supports up to 720p HD at 30 fps with a high-resolution webcam such as Tandberg’s PrecisionHD USB camera. When a Movi user joins a telepresence or video conference, PC video provides HD quality. It also uses Tandberg network functions including firewall traversal, multipoint conferencing, recording and archiving, and connections to legacy ISDN systems.

A PC or laptop requires only an internet connection, USB camera, microphone and loudspeakers. Movi includes echo cancellation and CD-quality audio, combined with a professional, intuitive interface.

“For the business world to adopt mobile-video solutions, they must guarantee the best quality and high compatibility and distinguish themselves clearly from mass-market products,” said Andrew W. Davis, Senior Partner at Wainhouse Research. “Movi provides all these factors plus the reliability and security of Tandberg Total Solution.”

Movi can be adapted to different user needs and is integrated with Tandberg Management Suite, including directories and presence status. Users can see who is available in realtime and connect with one click.

Tandberg Movi will be presented to a broad audience at VoiceCon in Orlando from March 31 to April 2 and is already available. Further information is at http://www.tandberg.de.
