Together with cooperation partners t-online.de and Paramount Pictures Germany, Panasonic is searching for Germany’s best low-budget parody short video until August 20, 2009. Film enthusiasts aged 16 and over may enter, along with school classes, video clubs, students and film-school graduates. Winners will receive prizes and recognition at the major awards ceremony during IFA 2009 in Berlin. Initial information is available now at http://www.papphelden.de.
Participation works as follows: recruit friends, make low-cost props from materials such as cardboard, and parody complete blockbusters or familiar scenes on film. The resulting “sweded movie” or fan-fiction video, with a running time of two to five minutes, can then be uploaded at http://www.papphelden.de or http://www.t-online.de/papphelden. Entrants may also use their own original concepts. The original video must be produced in at least MPEG-2 format.
The three leading entries from each of five monthly user votes will take the first step toward the red carpet. A prominent jury drawn from the organizers, film and media will then decide who becomes the celebrated Papp-Held 2009 in the final.
Substantial prizes are offered for Best Film and in the categories Best Costumes, Best Performers, Best Sound & Effects and Best Camera. Alongside a trip to a Hollywood premiere, prizes from Paramount Pictures Germany and Panasonic are available. Additional special prizes are reserved for school and university students.
Initial information about the Panasonic Papp-Helden Video Contest 2009 is available at http://www.papphelden.de. Full competition details will be published there from April 1, 2009, when the website will also open for film uploads.
