The BurkertBareiss production of TV60Film’s HEART OF FIRE, directed by Luigi Falorni, was the big winner at this year’s international children’s film festival in Montréal. The film received two principal awards: the Grand Prix de Montréal for Best Film and the Prix CIFEJ for best contribution to supporting children’s rights.
HEART OF FIRE, loosely based on the bestselling book of the same name, is the moving and hopeful story of a courageous girl who follows her own path despite every adversity.
With HEART OF FIRE, director and screenwriter Luigi Falorni (The Story of the Weeping Camel) tells a touching story of an apparently hopeless childhood. Andreas Bareiss, producer of the Oscar-winning Nowhere in Africa, and Sven Burgemeister, producer of Sophie Scholl, present a deeply humane film that has already moved audiences at a wide range of international film festivals.
HEART OF FIRE is a BurkertBareiss production for TV60Film, co-produced with Senator Film Produktion, Aichholzer Filmproduktion, Beta Film, Bayerischer Rundfunk and arte, in association with Film Studios Kenya and Pontact Productions. It was funded by FFF, Eurimages, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, the German Federal Film Board, the German Federal Film Fund, the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, the Austrian Film Institute, Austrian Broadcasting Corporation and Jugend Eine Welt, with support from the European Union’s MEDIA Programme.
