The Standard Audio collection currently consists of more than 11,000 user-generated, royalty-free sound effects and music tracks. In addition, iStock has launched the new Pump Audio collection, containing more than 18,000 music files licensed for single use.
According to the company, this makes iStock the only provider in the industry to enable the purchase and sale of all types of multimedia files—photos, illustrations, vectors, video, audio and Flash files—through a simple payment and licensing model.
Prices for Standard Audio tracks start at just two credits (one credit is approximately €1), while Pump Audio tracks start at 29 credits. The music and sound files can be used for countless projects, from web videos, television programmes and films to commercials, video games and public performances.
iStockphoto was one of the first social networks to pay contributors for selling their work. Today, artists and buyers come from almost every country in the world. iStock currently pays contributors almost $1.1 million each week.

At http://www.iStockaudio.com, users can currently search 30,000 audio files by keyword or by genre, key, tempo and time signature. Tracks can be previewed and usage rights purchased with just a few clicks.
The Standard Audio collection is intended for users who want to use music files or sound effects without geographic or time restrictions. The Pump Audio collection instead offers tracks licensed for a single use—one project at a time.
“Sounds of the ’70s” audio competition
To celebrate the launch of the new Standard Audio collection, iStock started the “Sounds of the ’70s” audio competition. The call is open to artists who are not members of a collecting society and seeks original compositions that revive the groovy mood of the 1970s.
