For its tenth anniversary, Berlin professional-monitor specialist ADAM Audio introduced the SX series.
Rather than revising the existing S series, ADAM redesigned the drivers and electronics. The six models were the S1X, S2X, S3X-H, S3X-V, S4X-H, and S4X-V.
All models used a new X-ART extended-frequency-response tweeter. Based on ADAM’s Accelerating Ribbon Technology, it offered four-decibel higher efficiency, three-decibel higher maximum sound pressure, and a nearly linear response to 50 kHz.
ADAM designed a new class A/B amplifier for the tweeter, specifying distortion of no more than 0.005 percent at 50 watts from 2 to 20 kHz and an internal bandwidth above 1 MHz.
The company’s HexaCone bass and bass-midrange drivers received larger, longer voice coils, stronger magnets, and greater linear excursion for higher maximum output.
The S2X, S3X-H, S3X-V, S4X-H, and S4X-V added a new front panel providing precise room and preference adjustments.
The SX series was scheduled for its first presentation at Prolight + Sound 2009.
