Onepoint Software joined the Open Source Business Foundation, OSBF. The company had been an early European adopter of dual licensing and said OSBF’s priorities aligned with its open-source strategy.

Onepoint offered its project portfolio management system, Onepoint Project, in open-source and commercial editions. The Open Edition allowed deployment at minimal cost, while Enterprise added a graphical project pipeline, interactive work-breakdown structure, and automated milestone-trend analysis.

Founded in Nuremberg in 2006, OSBF was a European open-source network with more than 120 members by early 2008. Members ranged from independent software companies to Novell and Deutsche Post, with priorities including interoperability and open-source business models.

Onepoint planned to increase investment in its open-source products and community. More details were expected after the planned late-spring release of version 9.

“2009 will be a very important year for open-source business applications,” said founder and CEO Gerald Mesaric. He argued that reduced IT spending made the ability to test and begin using an application at no cost increasingly important.

The Open Edition was available through SourceForge.
