Studio Tonmeister, based in a five-room networked studio complex in Mainz, produced trailers and film music and provided dubbing services for clients including ZDF, Sat.1, and SWR.
German Fairlight distributor Media Logic added a Xynergi MPC unit to the facility’s existing Fairlight equipment and Avid suites. Installed in control room two, it was used for dialogue replacement for film and television customers.
“We have worked successfully with Fairlight products for years, including four MFX3 units,” said sound engineer Alfred Huff. “The new Xynergi system is already producing clear time savings. In our view, it is the best editing system on the market—faster and more efficient than, for example, a Pro Tools solution.”
The Xynergi Media Production Centre combined a Xynergi controller with Fairlight CC-1 capabilities for high-quality audio processing, HD video through integrated Pyxis playback, and full surround support.
Huff also highlighted the CC-1’s integrated MADI interface, which avoided possible errors from MADI-to-AES/EBU conversion. Sony Digital Betacam, Panasonic DVCPRO and DVCPRO HD, Sony Betacam SP, and Sony HDCAM decks in control room two could be remotely controlled through nine-pin integration.
