TANDBERG and British Telecom announced BT’s certification as the first global managed-services provider for TANDBERG Total Service. BT would offer TANDBERG customers a portfolio of managed services intended to provide consistent, cost-effective telepresence and video operation.

BT had to meet technical, design, and implementation requirements. Its global presence, internal expertise, and 24/7 help-desk support provide managed services and network systems for TANDBERG customers.

“We are pleased that BT meets the high requirements for a TANDBERG Total Managed Services certified partner,” said Thomas Nicolaus, Managing Director of TANDBERG Central Europe. “BT’s One Source solution lets management rely on telepresence and video conferencing and concentrate on the meeting rather than the technology.”

Telepresence and video conferencing connect employees, customers, and suppliers face to face across locations. TANDBERG Total Services provides customized video-communication systems designed for implementation, maintenance, monitoring, and scalable company-wide use.

“BT’s One Source solution for TANDBERG applies our managed-services expertise to increase adoption, reduce costs, and optimize TANDBERG telepresence products,” said Jeff Prestel, General Manager of BT Conferencing’s Video Business Unit. “Together with TANDBERG, we provide customers with a telepresence experience while allowing them to target resources more effectively.”

TANDBERG Total Managed Services certification requires globally available video network operations centres suited to fully managed or hosted services. Certified providers must offer connection services, web and telephone reservations, continuous help-desk support, and proactive testing and monitoring before, during, and after meetings. Certification covers IP and ISDN gateways, universal bridging, event recording and streaming, and ad hoc VNOC services.
