Adobe Systems selected examples of innovative PDF Portfolio use in its Adobe Acrobat Award 2009. Participants used Adobe templates to create individual applications, internal or external company presentations, and training materials as PDF Portfolios.
More than 60 entries were submitted. The winning portfolios used features including animation, photography, and video. Freelancer Stefan Weiß took first place with a portfolio promoting the short-film project Rosenstiehl and his own work in the film industry.
Filmfamilie placed second with a company presentation. Thomas Joseph Landa took third with a digital School for Classical Painting with Brush and Paint.
The Institute for World Studies in Education and Research was also recognized for a portfolio of interactive worksheets in the training-material category.
Participants received product prizes and vouchers. Submitted portfolios were available at http://www.adobeacrobataward.de/galerie.
What Is a PDF Portfolio?
Since Acrobat 9, users can combine different content in a single PDF Portfolio. Documents, video and audio files, and 3D objects can be bundled in one compressed PDF. Users can select professionally designed layouts or create their own.
Content can be added quickly, after which users define navigation, adjust the appearance, and add branding. Offers, legal documents, and marketing materials can therefore be customized. Creating a PDF Portfolio was described as similar to combining files in a ZIP archive.
