M-Audio introduced the Studiophile CX8 and CX5 studio monitors for accurate monitoring across production environments. A purpose-built waveguide provides a wide listening area, making the monitors suitable for larger studios. The Studiophile CX series builds on M-Audio’s studio-monitor range and is designed for consistent reproduction outside the optimal listening position, low distortion, a broad sound field, and flexible adaptation to different production spaces.
The Studiophile CX nearfield monitors are available with an 8-inch woofer in the CX8 and a 5-inch woofer in the CX5. The CX5 is aimed at smaller studios, home studios, and editing rooms requiring high monitoring quality. The CX8 is intended for medium and large production environments.
New Features of the Studiophile CX Monitor Series:
• Design: Studiophile CX speakers provide headroom, an accurate and efficient frequency response, low distortion, and reduced listening fatigue for more consistent presentation of a mix across monitoring conditions.
• OptImage IV high-performance waveguide: clearer sound outside the optimal listening position and a wider sound field than conventional waveguide speakers, including monitoring for several people in post-production studios.
• Adjustable Acoustic Space controls: frequency-response adjustment for monitoring under difficult room conditions.
• Purpose-built Kevlar drivers for precise bass reproduction and durability.
• High-efficiency tweeter with extended high-frequency response to 30 kHz for transparent reproduction under difficult positioning or listening conditions.

Availability and Prices
The Studiophile CX5 and CX8 nearfield monitors were expected in the second quarter of 2009 at recommended unit prices of €369 and €459 respectively.
