In response to the difficult economic climate, PRIMEHOUSE also offered a new payment model for PRIMEPACKAGING participants. In individual cases, participants could initially pay a reduced fee of €1,800 for the workshop spanning the year. The difference from the total cost of €5,700 became payable only if the project secured financing.
PRIMEPACKAGING was described as the only European training programme to combine packaging advice for film and television projects in screenplay development, market analysis, financing, distribution and international sales with support for games and interactive media. During the critical early development phase, decision-makers from the different sectors analysed each project’s market opportunities and identified its commercial potential.
Participants could evaluate and develop their projects with specialists around one table in a creative and professional setting. “Bavaria Film International welcomes PRIMEHOUSE’s offering to producers. PRIMEPACKAGING is an important and useful tool that allows producers to examine their projects’ exploitation potential at an early stage and advance development successfully using market-relevant results. Experience has shown that this commitment can pay off substantially during production and subsequent exploitation,” said Thorsten Ritter, head of Bavaria Film International and a PRIMEPACKAGING specialist for two years.
PRIMEPACKAGING 2009 comprised three centres, beginning in Berlin from July 8 to 12, followed by Vienna from October 14 to 18 and Warsaw from December 11 to 13. Applications closed on June 5, 2009.
Personal consultations for prospective participants were available by telephone or during the Cannes Film Festival from May 14 to 21, 2009.
