More than 650 films were scheduled to screen during the 16th Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS) from May 5 to 10, 2009. The festival offered total prize money of €57,500 across eight competition categories. Mackevision Medien Design GmbH, a Stuttgart creative and systems partner for visual communication, sponsored the Under Commission award for commissioned work for the second consecutive year. More than 280 applicants submitted advertising animation, animated music videos and television trailers. The jury nominated 15 entries for the €2,500 prize.

“The success of ITFS in recent years shows that the greater Stuttgart region plays an important role in the industry,” said Mackevision managing director Armin Pohl. “Convincing and moving results in animation require a substantial passion for good images. Everything we do at Mackevision therefore follows the credo ‘Passion and Technology.’ That makes it especially important for us to present the Under Commission prize to people who share this passion.”

Pohl was scheduled to present the prize at 9 p.m. on Friday, May 8, at Gloria 2 cinema, Königstraße 22, Stuttgart. Entries in the Under Commission category were scheduled to screen at Gloria 1 from 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2009.

Interested visitors and emerging artists could learn about Mackevision and its projects in the Mackevision Lounge at Café Schlossblick, Königstraße 22, between 7 and 8:30 p.m. on May 8. After the prize ceremony, the company planned a Mackevision reception at the café from 10:30 p.m.
