The EDIROL F-1 is designed for videographers and producers who need high quality and a continuous workflow in field production. With two additional audio inputs, unrestricted file sizes, removable storage, network connectivity and multiple power options, the EDIROL F-1 can be used in a wide range of locations and applications.
Format flexibility
Version 2.0 adds support for MPEG-2 TS formats from 2 to 50 Mbps. This enables the EDIROL F-1 to record video at bit rates above standard HDV’s 25 Mbps. The freely selectable bit rate also allows recording at only 8 Mbps in HD, providing up to 27 hours of recording time on the standard 120 GB hard drive, or 112 hours at 2 Mbps in SD. Combined with the new EDIROL VC-50HD Video Field Converter, direct SD/HD-SDI recording and playback are also possible.
Loop-record and pre-record functions
In loop-record mode, the EDIROL F-1 records a selected period into a file and automatically deletes the oldest data according to the available storage capacity. In pre-record mode, the three seconds before the record button is pressed are automatically captured and buffered, reducing the risk of missing an important moment by starting too late.
Intuitive editing program
The EDIROL F-1 includes a new Editor Mode in which all recorded data can be edited immediately. Still images and multiformat video can be edited on the same timeline with any necessary conversion.
New F1-SSD64 solid-state drive
The new EDIROL F1-SSD64 solid-state drive is intended to provide reliable recording in especially critical or extreme environments. It offers 64 GB of capacity and around 4.5 hours of recording time in standard MPEG-2 TS at 25 Mbps. For longer recording sessions, EDIROL F-1 users can use SSD storage instead of a hard drive. Combined with version 2.0 of the EDIROL F-1, the F1-SSD64 creates a portable HD recording system capable of high-bit-rate MPEG-2 TS recording.
The EDIROL F-1 with version 2.0 was immediately available at a recommended price of €2,800 excluding 19% VAT. The EDIROL F1-SSD64 was scheduled for availability in June 2009 at a recommended price of €1,450 excluding 19% VAT.
