Mackevision also took second place in Sales Promotions with a Silver intermedia-globe for another product film. The international jury recognised the artistic execution of a 3D web presentation for the new VW Scirocco, animated product films for the Mercedes SLR and M-Class, and a trade-show film marking the Lamborghini Estoque’s debut at the 2008 Paris Motor Show.
The ninth WorldMediaFestival honoured outstanding national and international product films. Intermedia filmvertrieb Menck & Co. had presented the intermedia-globe awards annually in Hamburg since 2000. The festival had established itself worldwide as a platform for audiovisual communications and was considered one of the industry’s leading competitions. That year’s ceremony took place at Hamburg’s Delphi Palast on May 13, 2009. More than 500 entries from over 20 countries were judged across 14 categories for artistic quality, audience suitability and technical execution.
The jury awarded three intermedia-globe Gold prizes to Mackevision’s recent 3D productions in Web, Sales Promotion and Animation. The Scirocco web special—a 3D-based 360-degree presentation for the model’s website launch that let enthusiasts examine the car and experience it through film inserts—received both Gold and the Grand Award in Web.
In Animation, the Mercedes SLR Raceway design study was recognised for technical excellence. The fully 3D-animated one-minute film presented the supercar on a racetrack in close detail. Mackevision also won Gold in Sales Promotions for its Mercedes M-Class image film, a fully computer-generated production showing a photorealistic vehicle in natural environments with water, sand and lighting effects.
A two-minute trade-show film for the Lamborghini Estoque received Silver. Presented in a three-part split screen with elaborate 3D, animation and comic effects, the CGI production conveyed the vehicle’s dynamism and driving experience for its worldwide debut at the 2008 Paris Motor Show.
Mackevision Managing Director Armin Pohl said the awards made the company proud and demonstrated Germany’s ability to set international standards for technology quality and maturity. He cited the company’s F_BOX picture shooter, which allowed agencies, photographers and industrial customers to create photorealistic 3D vehicle visualisations without software expertise.
