The system could, for example, create a wireless connection between a Blu-ray player and a ceiling-mounted projector. Devices in two different rooms could also communicate through the transmitter-receiver system without direct line of sight, allowing home-cinema installations without extensive cabling.

The GefenTV HDMI Wireless Extender provided a plug-and-play method for positioning HDMI sources up to 30 metres from a display. It supported resolutions up to 1080p/30 or 1080i/60, compressed 5.1-channel audio and two-channel analogue audio. In broadcast mode, one HDMI signal could be distributed wirelessly and simultaneously to up to five receivers without HDCP. In unicast mode, a signal including HDCP could be sent to one receiver. Transmitter and receiver needed to use the same mode.
