At the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, Ubisoft announced new product details for James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game. During a surprise appearance at Ubisoft’s press conference, James Cameron joined Ubisoft Montreal CEO Yannis Mallat to reveal the first details.
The title takes players deeper into the heart of Pandora, an alien planet beyond imagination. They encounter the Na’vi, Pandora’s indigenous people, and discover creatures and other life forms never before seen in video games. When conflict breaks out between the Na’vi and the RDA Corporation, a space consortium seeking valuable resources, players are drawn into a battle for the heart of the planet and the fate of an entire civilisation.
“Technically, Ubisoft and the video-game industry have a great deal in common with us,” Cameron said during the press conference. “We are using extremely sophisticated techniques in the production of Avatar, so when selecting a video-game partner we considered not only how creatively it could work within Avatar’s world but whether it could meet our technical requirements. Ubisoft was and remains that partner.”
