Alongside the Free State of Bavaria, Bayerischer Rundfunk, ProSiebenSat.1, RTL, and the Bavarian Regulatory Authority for New Media, ZDF is one of the shareholders of FilmFernsehFonds Bayern. With ZDF Director-General Markus Schächter announcing a 10 percent increase in ZDF’s contribution, its share will rise from €1.534 million to €1.7 million per year.
According to Markus Schächter, this increase is a sign that ZDF takes a positive view of its commitment to film funding in general and to FFF Bayern in particular.
FFF Supervisory Board Chairman and Minister of State Siegfried Schneider: “Films need quality, and quality needs funding. I am therefore delighted by ZDF’s commitment to becoming more heavily involved in Bavarian film funding in future. This is a clear signal of the positive prospects and future viability of Munich as a film and media location.”
FFF Managing Director Klaus Schaefer: “We thank ZDF for this outstanding commitment to Bavaria as a film location. Perhaps it will provide the initial spark for other shareholders to consider increasing their funding share for the FFF as well.”
