According to the company, Adobe Systems today announced two new open-source initiatives for the Adobe Flash Platform aimed at developers, media companies and publishers. The Open Source Media Framework (OSMF), part of the project previously code-named Strobe, enables developers to create stable, feature-rich media players optimised for the Adobe Flash Platform faster and more easily. The Text Layout Framework (TLF) helps developers equip their web applications with sophisticated typographic capabilities.

Both OSMF and TLF are now available free of charge as open-source software. This supports content providers in expanding their online-media activities by creating new business opportunities and marketing strategies for web publishing.
