With the release of the UAD-2 SOLO/Laptop, a compact DSP card based on ExpressCard, Universal Audio of Scotts Valley, California, presents an extension of its award-winning UAD platform for the laptop market. The newest member of the UAD family now gives laptop users full access to the entire UAD Powered Plug-Ins library and its popular emulations of analogue classics, without the need for external cabling or a power supply. Like all other UAD-2 cards, SOLO/Laptop supports the VST, AU and RTAS interfaces on Mac and PC systems and can therefore be integrated into Cubase, Logic, Samplitude, Digital Performer or Pro Tools. The UAD-2 SOLO/Laptop is shipping now and is available from specialist retailers at an RRP of €554 including VAT.
Since the UAD-1 was launched in 2001, the UAD Powered Plug-Ins collection has grown continuously and now includes the most highly regarded processors from the past 50 years of audio history, including officially licensed emulations of Neve, Roland, Moog, Fairchild, Pultec, SPL and Teletronix.
Today, UAD Powered Plug-Ins are the first choice for countless hit producers and Grammy Award-winning engineers including Frank Filipetti (James Taylor, Paul Simon), Justin Niebank (Keith Urban, Taylor Swift, Rascal Flatts), Ryan West (Kanye West, T.I., T Pain), Chris Dugan (Green Day), Stuart Price (Madonna, The Killers, Seal), Matt Knobel (Lenny Kravitz, Ricky Martin), Vance Powell (White Stripes, Raconteurs) and Rik Simpson (Coldplay).
“Making UAD-2 Powered Plug-Ins accessible to laptop users is part of our vision for expanding the UAD platform, which we are proud to say now has 30,000 users,” states Universal Audio Managing Director Matt Ward. “Bill Putnam Jr. began transferring the best of classic analogue equipment to the digital world while retaining all its analogue subtleties and nuances. This degree of authenticity requires considerably more power than today’s laptops can provide. With SOLO/Laptop, users can now simply insert an ExpressCard into their laptop and access our musically superior UAD plug-ins.”
