One remote control for the television, one for the sound system and another for the DVD player - the more home-entertainment devices there are in the home, the more complicated controlling them becomes. Thanks to revised radio technology, a color touchscreen and an intuitive button layout, the new rechargeable Logitech Harmony 900 effortlessly controls all home entertainment - even when the devices are behind closed cabinet doors or in other rooms.

“Like all Harmony remote controls, the Harmony 900 enables home-entertainment systems to be operated much more simply and effectively than with many individual remote controls,” says Markus Mahla, Logitech Country Manager Germany. “With the Harmony 900, Logitech is adding a model to its Harmony product line that enables almost limitless control throughout the home thanks to advanced radio technology. Devices can therefore safely disappear behind closed cabinet doors.”

Easy-to-Install Radio System

The Harmony 900’s completely revised radio system makes it easier to control increasingly sophisticated home-entertainment systems over a distance of up to 30 meters - without the effort often required for radio installations. The user simply places the supplied infrared splitter and one or two infrared mini-transmitters in the cabinet next to the components to be controlled.

Unlike other radio remote controls, no transmitters need to be attached to the devices. On the Harmony 900’s color touchscreen, the user selects the devices to be controlled by radio. Once setup is complete, the entire entertainment system can disappear behind closed cabinet doors. Without having to point in a particular direction, the Harmony 900 takes control of all the devices.

Comfortable to Hold and Operate

The Logitech Harmony 900’s intuitive button layout is based on the award-winning design of the Logitech Harmony One remote control. It is divided into four separate areas - numeric keypad, conventional control functions, a directional pad with volume control and channel up/down, and on-screen menu buttons - so the desired function button can be found immediately. The Harmony has the 44 most important buttons. The buttons are specially shaped and offer tactile aids so that the remote control can also be used without looking.

Great Entertainment at a Touch

As with all Logitech Harmony remote controls, one press of a button on the Harmony 900 is enough to start a favorite film. There is also no need for complicated lists or lengthy operating explanations. Control through activity buttons makes home entertainment more than simple: the whole family, friends and even the babysitter can start the desired activity simply by selecting the corresponding symbol on the display - for example, “Watch DVD” - and the Harmony does the rest. The remote control then switches on the television, DVD player, A/V receiver and all other required devices.

Simple Guided Online Setup

Thanks to Logitech’s internet-based setup concept, programming the Harmony 900 is extremely user-friendly. The intuitive setup assistant guides users simply and clearly through the required steps. The user is asked to enter the brand and model number of the components. The Harmony software then programs the remote control with the corresponding infrared commands stored in Logitech’s database of more than 225,000 devices from over 5,000 manufacturers. Command codes for further devices are added every day. This ensures that users can also control devices purchased in future with the Harmony 900.

Pricing and Availability

The Logitech Harmony 900 will be available from September 2009 at a recommended retail price of 400 euros. A charging station, rechargeable battery, infrared splitter and two infrared mini-transmitters are included.
