JVC: New 42-inch Large-Screen LCD Monitor

JVC expands its monitor range with the versatile 10-bit GD-42X1, offering native 1920 x 1080 resolution and a 50,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio.

According to JVC, state-of-the-art image processing uses an original algorithm that analyses colour distribution in every field of the input signal to reproduce colours faithfully and produce “clean” images.

According to the manufacturer, with its preset professional colour profiles, the GD-42X1 is suitable for a wide range of demanding monitoring tasks including broadcasting, photo analysis and display, medical-image reproduction, CCTV surveillance and digital-signage applications. To optimise image settings further, it offers the ability to make and save up to 52 settings, including fine adjustments to colour, hue, gamma and other parameters. The gamma curve of every monitor is also adjusted before delivery to ensure absolutely precise greyscale characteristics.

Thanks to its wide colour spectrum and Adobe RGB compatibility, digital images captured in the sRGB or Adobe RGB colour space are reproduced faithfully. The integrated 12-bit processor (one per colour) converts 8-bit signals into 12-bit Deep Colour signals to achieve smoother gradation regardless of the original signal source. In addition, the integrated noise-reduction technologies for digital and moving images detect possible image noise in real time in each of 16 frequency ranges, while a high-precision interpolation algorithm significantly reduces motion blur.

The GD-42X1 is presented in an attractive, very slim black-and-silver enclosure and has a tilting stand with three height settings, as well as VESA mounting holes for wall installation. The monitor is equipped with three HDMI inputs plus one RGB input for VGA, component and composite sources. It can also be controlled via RS-232C, while calibration of gamma and white balance is performed using downloadable software.
