Sony Creative Software Inc., a leading provider of professional video and audio production applications, today announced the availability of Vegas Pro 9.0c software, a nonlinear video and audio editing system (NLE).
Features of Vegas Pro 9.0c software include rendering Sony XDCAM EX MP4 files and the ability to edit MPEG-2 video faster and more seamlessly across different container formats using smart rendering. Expanded audio functions include exclusive élastique Pro time-stretching and the option to import stereo tracks as two independent mono tracks, further extending the software’s professional capabilities. Expanded support for media shot with RED ONE cameras simplifies file access and enables editors to work efficiently with raw footage at resolutions up to 4K. Vegas Pro 9.0c also supports additional video cards for ingest and output via SDI, HD-SDI and HDMI.

Rendering XDCAM EX MP4 files provides a complete solution for editing footage from professional XDCAM EX cameras with Vegas Pro and easily transferring it back to the camera. Fast, trouble-free file transfer offers significant time savings for users who need to output finished projects to SxS solid-state media.
Cross-format MPEG-2 smart rendering:
Exclusive Vegas Pro smart-rendering technology can operate across formats within the MPEG-2 family, passing video signals in different MPEG-2 formats unchanged through the processing pipeline. This accelerates encoding and reduces generation loss in projects involving only simple cuts or minor changes.
Import stereo as two-channel mono:
The option to automatically split stereo sources into two independent mono audio tracks when they are placed on the timeline expands the editing possibilities for many use cases, such as interviews where the interviewer’s voice was recorded on one channel and the interviewee’s on the other.
Support for additional cards and MPEG video quality settings:
The additionally supported video cards now include the Blackmagic Design DeckLink HD Extreme, AJA IO Express and AJA Xena LHi. This expands the range of high-end signal ingest and output via SDI, HD-SDI and HDMI and increases workflow flexibility.
Device Explorer for RED ONE (.r3d) with media viewing and import:
With the same range of functions as for AVCHD and XDCAM EX devices, RED ONE files (.r3d) can be browsed, viewed and imported directly through Device Explorer, making it possible to load only the media actually required directly from the camera.

The exclusive élastique Pro Time-stretch plug-in enables remarkable time-stretching and pitch-shifting of audio signals. Sophisticated controls help users preserve maximum sound quality and achieve flawless audio results. The élastique Pro time-stretch and pitch-shift processes deliver better-sounding results when editing audio files. Users can adjust the parameters and choose among several time-stretch methods tailored to the source material, including Pro, Soloist and Efficient modes.
