During the opening, Ahmet Misbah Demicran, Mayor of the Beyoğlu district, announced in his speech a cooperation between the City of Istanbul and SAE Institute for 2010, through which Istanbul will be promoted as an international capital of culture. SAE students will make a major contribution to the technical implementation of numerous events and presentations, the institute states.
Rüdiger Grieme, Vice President of SAE, discusses the motivations and development process behind SAE Istanbul: “We have monitored the Turkish market for years and see great potential in its media sector, particularly the film and audio industries. Opening branches in Turkey is a consistent step within our strategic planning,” said Grieme. “After a long search, we found a historic property in a good location, whose expansion we were able to help shape intensively during the renovation and conversion phase, ultimately creating a forward-looking technology campus.”
According to SAE, specialists from the media industry are impressed by the premises and technical equipment: across more than 1,200 square metres are studios featuring an Icon Digidesign D-Control ES32 with HD3 system, an AMS Neve Genesys console, a Tascam DM 4800 and three recording rooms. Audio Engineer Alp Turaç comments: “Equipment of this quality in an educational institution is unique in Turkey and will certainly remain so for a long time. The students of SAE Istanbul are truly to be envied.”
