The programme lasts two years. For the first time, participants in this vocational qualification can receive funding from the employment agency through an education voucher.
Sound design refers to creative work with music, sounds and noises. Sophisticated sound underscores situations and creates atmosphere for the viewer. Alongside music productions, this also applies to feature films, corporate films, classic television formats, virtual worlds and games. Sound designers therefore find a wide variety of employment opportunities in music and postproduction, 3D studios, recording studios, advertising, film and television.
Alongside broad basic training in audio technology, the content ranges from music and media management, composition and advanced audio engineering to copyright law and project management. The trainees have access to state-of-the-art equipment, including two recording studios with numerous high-quality microphones, digital and analogue effects units, and mobile and stationary recording technology. The knowledge to be learned is taught to participants in theoretical seminars and practical projects by competent lecturers with practical experience.
Applicants for an education voucher must generally be either unemployed or at risk of unemployment. The education voucher is an assurance that the costs incurred through participation in an educational measure will be covered.
