Until now: according to its own information, the new University of Popular Arts, hdpk for short, has developed the state- and internationally recognised Bachelor of Music in “Sound and Music Production”, which combines the areas named above. Areas that, according to hdpk Managing Director Thoralf Buller, make a good music producer:
“We want to turn our students into comprehensively trained music producers who, alongside production-technology skills, are also professionals on an instrument and in ear training, have a good sense of interpretation, understand instruments and music theory, and can also deal professionally with the economic and legal aspects of music production.”
The Bachelor’s degree programme will begin its first round in April, it adds. The full-time, on-campus programme lasts a total of 36 months (six semesters), costs €549 per month and is offered at the hdpk campus in Berlin-Charlottenburg. Alongside the Bachelor of Music, two Bachelor of Arts degrees are also offered: “Media Management” and “Media Design”.
Every month, the campus opens its doors for an information day to introduce interested parties to the education programme. Varied workshops provide initial insights into course content and career profiles.
The next information day takes place on Saturday, February 20, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free; registration is requested.
