Sony Professional is extending the warranty and service periods for various camcorders from the DVCAM, HDV, NXCAM, XDCAM EX, XDCAM HD, HDCAM and HDCAM-SR product families, as well as the HXR-MC1P Full HD compact camcorder. The condition is that a device is purchased by March 31, 2010. For many camera models, the current Sony Vegas 9 editing software is also available to customers as a free download after Prime Support registration. They will also receive it when purchasing the new HXR-NX5E AVCHD camcorder, which additionally includes an 8 GB Memory Stick Pro Duo. All campaigns run until the end of March 2010.
Anyone buying a Sony Professional camcorder now receives an extended support contract with 17 camcorder models. Depending on the camera selected, the customer receives either an extension of the standard Sony warranty to three years or - for devices with Sony Prime Support - an extension of service by a further year. Prime Support includes, among other things, collection of repair cases and return delivery of devices anywhere in the EU, Norway and Switzerland. Both campaigns are supported by accredited Sony Specialist Dealers within Germany. Customers receive the extended warranty period exclusively there. In both cases, this means guaranteed investment protection for the user for a total of three years from the purchase date. The extended Sony Professional support packages are available exclusively in Germany.
The camera models in this Sony Professional service campaign include all HDV camcorders and numerous XDCAM EX and XDCAM HD camcorders, as well as the SRW-9000 from the HDCAM-SR family, the HDW-650P HDCAM camera, the HXR-MC1P multifunction camera, the new HXR-NX5E NXCAM camcorder and the DSR-PD175P DVCAM.
All customers who purchase a model with Prime Support will also have the opportunity to download the current version of Sony Vegas 9 video-editing software free of charge. After online Prime Support registration, the customer will be sent a link for this purpose.
Record and edit immediately
An additional campaign specifically for the new Sony HXR-NX5E runs until the end of March. Anyone who purchases one of the new AVCHD camcorders by March 31, 2010, will receive an 8 GB Memory Stick Pro Duo free of charge. The Memory Stick is already included with the camera at purchase. Combined with the Vegas 9 promotion that also applies to the HXR-NX5E, users can begin recording immediately after purchase and edit the material directly - with comprehensive support for three years, because the new NXCAM-family camcorder also includes a one-year Prime Support extension until the end of March.
The HXR-NX5E handheld camcorder opens up a file-based workflow in various HD formats based on the AVCHD codec for professional filmmakers and semi-professional users. The new camcorder uses three 1/3-inch Exmor CMOS sensors with ClearVid Array technology, which achieve high sensitivity even in difficult lighting conditions and also produce rich, noise-free, high-quality images there. The hybrid-capable entry-level model stores recordings either on Memory Stick Pro Duo, SD/SDHC memory cards or an optional flash module with 128 GB storage capacity. This makes the HXR-NX5E particularly suitable for small production houses, as well as users who want to move from HDV to professional production in Full HD.
The included 8 GB Memory Stick Pro Duo, supplied until the end of March, is ideally suited to recording high-resolution video. It also reliably handles the HXR-NX5E’s maximum data rate of 24 Mbit/s. The same applies to the latest version of Sony Vegas 9 editing software for professional HD video and audio production. Alongside many different formats, the powerful video-editing system with numerous functions for creating multimedia content also fully supports editing and rendering AVCHD files.
