The coveted award was presented to the PC 31 headset in the ‘Computers’ section and the DW Office model in the ‘Telecommunications’ category.

First-class sound quality, innovative technology and high-quality design: this combination also impressed the international jury of the iF Product Design Awards 2010. It honoured the Sennheiser products HD 800, RS 170, RS 180, PC 31 and DW Office. This year, the judges of the renowned design competition received 2,468 entries from 39 countries. From these, 778 winners were selected in 16 categories.

Sennheiser’s flagship HD 800 model fascinates with an impressively spacious sound image featuring brilliant highs and precise bass. Its outstanding sound characteristics are accompanied by purist styling, carefully selected materials and high-quality workmanship ‘made in Germany’. At the heart of the HD 800 are a completely novel transducer and innovative earcup design.

Thanks to digital wireless transmission, the RS 170 and RS 180 headphone models deliver high-resolution sound. The RS 170 impresses with dynamic bass and switchable surround sound, while the RS 180’s individually adjustable sound characteristics create a unique listening experience. Straightforward design and glossy black or anthracite surfaces give both headphones an elegant appearance.

Whether for internet telephony or enjoying music on a computer, the PC 31 headset from Sennheiser Communications guarantees outstanding voice transmission and first-class stereo sound. Its design matches the sound. A classically elegant shape in understated black gives the headset a sophisticated appearance. The ergonomic construction with adjustable microphone boom guarantees maximum wearing comfort.

Sennheiser Communications also impresses with its headsets for professional office communication. Its newest product, DW Office, combines wireless technology with high wearing comfort and familiar Sennheiser sound quality – whether used for communication by telephone or VoIP. DW Office expands the ‘Comfort Calls’ product line with a DECT-standard headset, while its cube-shaped charging cradle makes it a true design object.

For people interested in design, all winners will be displayed in the iF Online Exhibition at http://www.ifdesign.de from March 2. Anyone who would prefer to see the selected products ‘live’ can visit the iF exhibition at the Hanover exhibition grounds from early March through August. The official awards ceremony will also take place there on March 2, the opening day of CeBIT.
