Constantin Film Enters the Race with Nine Nominations

The German Film Awards 2010 will be presented in Berlin on April 23. The nominations have now been announced. WICKIE UND DIE STARKEN MÄNNER, DIE PÄPSTIN and VORSTADTKROKODILE, three audience favourites from 2009, have been nominated for the coveted film awards.

WICKIE UND DIE STARKEN MÄNNER, the most successful German film of 2009, is nominated in four categories, Constantin Film explains. Ralf Wengenmayr received a nomination in the Best Film Music category. Michael Kranz and Ben Rosenkind are nominated for Best Sound Design. Matthias Müsse is also nominated for Best Production Design and Georg Korpás for Best Make-up. Michael Bully Herbig’s adventure comedy has attracted nearly five million cinemagoers to date.

WICKIE UND DIE STARKEN MÄNNER is a Rat Pack Film production, co-produced with Constantin Film and herbX film. The producer is Christian Becker. The film received funding from FilmFernsehFonds Bayern, Bayerischer Banken Fond, NRW Bank, Filmförderungsanstalt, Deutscher Filmförderfonds and Malta Film Commission.

Sönke Wortmann’s film DIE PÄPSTIN is also competing for a Lola 2010 in four categories. Jördis Triebel is nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role. Bernd Lepel for Best Production Design and Esther Walz for Best Costume Design also have a chance of winning a German Film Award. Roland Winke, Stefan Busch and Michael Kranz can hope for a Lola for Best Sound Design. The star-studded historical epic is the second most successful German theatrical film of 2009 and has attracted nearly 2.5 million visitors to cinemas to date.

DIE PÄPSTIN is a Constantin Film production co-produced with Medusa Film, Ikiru Films, UFA Filmproduktion and NDR / WDR / SWR / MDR / DEGETO. The producers are Martin Moszkowicz and Oliver Berben. The film was funded by Deutscher Filmförderfonds, Filmstiftung NRW, FilmFernsehFonds Bayern, Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung and Filmförderungsanstalt.

For the adaptation of the classic children’s book VORSTADTKROKODILE, the film team led by director Christian Ditter can hope for a Lola in the Feature-Length Children’s Film category. More than 700,000 viewers saw the adventures of the cool youth gang in cinemas in 2009.

VORSTADTKROKODILE is a Christian Becker production by Westside Filmproduktion and Rat Pack Filmproduktion, co-produced with Constantin Film Produktion. The film received funding from Filmstiftung NRW, FilmFernsehFonds Bayern, Filmförderungsanstalt and Deutscher Filmförderfonds.
