Steinberg today announces a major new update to the WaveLab audio-editing and mastering suite, which has long been standard equipment in many professional studios. WaveLab 7 sets new standards for audio editing and mastering on the Mac and also offers Windows users many interesting innovations compared with its predecessor, WaveLab 6. These include a unique new GUI concept: an intelligent docking and scaling system for windows and toolbars makes audio editing across multiple windows even faster and smoother, including audio montages and podcasts. Other new features include outstanding VST3 plug-ins and restoration tools, a new burning engine for CD and DVD-A creation, and much more. WaveLab 7 will be available from authorised Steinberg dealers in the second half of 2010.
“This version is a milestone in the history of WaveLab,” explains Timo Wildenhain, Steinberg’s Product Marketing Manager for WaveLab. “With WaveLab 7, Steinberg is also offering the leading audio-mastering suite for Mac OS X. It can perform every step involved in refining and processing music productions, from technical quality analysis and audio editing through to the finished master for the pressing plant. WaveLab 7 was rewritten from the ground up to provide complete compatibility with Windows and Mac OS X. Steinberg is therefore expanding its cross-platform product range into audio editing and mastering, an area in which WaveLab has developed into the industry standard on the PC over recent years,” Wildenhain continues.
The new WaveLab 7 user interface is now even faster and more intuitive to use, significantly increasing working speed for audio editing and mastering. It includes a new intelligent and individually customisable arrangement system for windows and toolbars. Another innovation in WaveLab 7 is a first-class package of restoration tools supplied by the well-known plug-in manufacturer Sonnox. It includes specialised tools such as DeNoiser, DeBuzzer and DeClicker. WaveLab 7 also features new VST3 plug-ins previously found only in Steinberg’s music and audio post-production solutions, sensibly expanding the supplied audio toolset, such as the Nuendo Post Filter plug-in. A completely new CD and DVD burning engine rounds off WaveLab 7’s functional enhancements.
