Dolby Laboratories, Inc. announces that the new Dolby Professional Reference Monitor PRM-4200, for professionals requiring precise measurement tools in colour-critical applications, achieves the accuracy of previous CRT monitors while also offering the versatility of flat-panel displays.
This new 42-inch screen is the world’s first LCD-based video reference monitor to display true, deep black levels with higher contrast across the entire colour spectrum and offer unprecedented brightness. It uses a backlight consisting of red, green and blue LEDs that are modulated individually on a frame-by-frame basis. The LCD screen is also modulated in real time as part of the dual-modulation process.

Other important features of the Dolby Professional Reference Monitor PRM-4200
are:
· Expanded dynamic range - the first reference screen capable of displaying the
complete dynamic range that digital film cameras can capture
· DCI/P3 (Digital Cinema) colour-space support - provides the ability to
perform cinema colour grading without using a digital projector
· Colour accuracy across all brightness levels
· Versatility - emulates any other display device so that all
content preparation and quality assessment can be performed with just one monitor
· Size and aspect ratio - emulates the home-cinema environment to
ensure that content is reproduced correctly at home
The new Dolby Professional Reference Monitor will be available later this year.
