Storage specialist EditShare, which has just acquired the professional Lightworks editing solution, wants to release it as a free open-source version in future. This is likely to cause quite a stir in the NLE systems market. The company intends to make the editing solution available in the third quarter of 2010 and apparently also sees this as a connection to its own storage solutions.
