The Studio Hamburg Young Talent Award will be presented for the 13th time on June 24, 2010 – during a major media gala on the Studio Hamburg premises.
Fourteen films are on the final shortlist across the four categories, with graduates of the University of Television and Film Munich represented particularly frequently, with a total of six nominations. In the production category, all nominated films are from the Munich talent factory; Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg is represented three times,
the “Konrad Wolf” University of Film and Television Potsdam and the Academy of Media Arts Cologne twice each, and Hamburg Media School with one production. A total of 59 films were submitted by 11 different universities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Each prize is worth EUR 5,000.
This year’s entries often focus on emotionally told stories that take a critical look at themes such as lost youth or broken families. For Studio Hamburg, the Young Talent Award forms part of a series of committed offerings to support and promote young creatives in cultural, artistic and economic fields.
This year, too, the independent jury consists of 14 renowned filmmakers, broadcaster representatives, producers and specialist journalists: Lars Becker (director), Birgit Brandes (Pro7 Television GmbH), Charly Hübner (actor), Alfred Holighaus (German Film Academy), Michael Lehmann (Studio Hamburg Produktion), Emmo Lempert (Studio Hamburg Serienwerft), Hubertus Meyer-Burckhardt (POLYPHON), Angelika Paetow (NDR, requested), Kerstin Ramcke (Studio
Hamburg Produktion), Dagmar Rosenbauer (CineCentrum Berlin), Caroline von Senden (ZDF), Barbara Thielen (RTL Television GmbH), Ruth Toma (freelance author), Dr Martin Willich (Studio Hamburg GmbH).
The short films on which the audience votes will be shown on NDR Fernsehen on June 10, 2010, at 0:10 a.m. The nominations for the Günter Strack Television Award for acting achievements will be selected at a later date.
