Nuendo 5 is the latest new version of Steinberg’s renowned production system for postproduction, live recording and audio production. The release is accompanied by a world tour through 14 countries, on which Nuendo 5 will be presented in 19 demo shows. The numerous new features include new ADR tools, new sound-design functions such as the unique Clip Package system, new plug-ins and numerous improvements in mixing, routing and automation. Nuendo 5 supports Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.6 as well as Windows 7, Vista and XP, and will be available from authorised Steinberg dealers from June 2010 at a price of €1799.00*.
“This release is groundbreaking for Nuendo. The many new functions are particularly valuable for everyday production and make Nuendo 5 the number one among native production platforms for post, live and audio,” explained Timo Wildenhain, Steinberg’s Product Marketing Manager for Nuendo. “Nowadays, efficiency, stability and speed in handling daily tasks are just as important as the software’s adaptability to individual requirements and situations. Nuendo 5 was developed specifically to meet these requirements, and the overwhelmingly enthusiastic feedback at the first demo shows has confirmed to us that we have achieved this goal,” Wildenhain continued.
One of the highlights of the new Nuendo version is the ADR tools for even easier synchronisation of audio to picture. These include a new marker-track system, an import function for EDL lists and a new video engine.
Clip Packages were developed especially for sound editors and help organise audio files. Clip Packages can be used to group and archive any number of audio clips from different tracks. Via the improved Nuendo 5 MediaBay, Clip Packages can be previewed and loaded for reuse in other projects. Nuendo 5 also has many useful new features for mixing, including further developments to the powerful Nuendo automation system and Direct Routing with multiple destinations. Excellent tools for surround mixing have always been a hallmark of Nuendo, and with the new Surround Panner and Surround Bus Patch Editor, this area of Nuendo 5 has been enhanced even further. The many other new features in Nuendo 5 include a waveform display in the Nuendo Mixer, improved compatibility with Pro Tools audio files and an automatable Batch Export function.
In combination with Steinberg’s Nuendo SyncStation hardware synchroniser, Nuendo offers sample-accurate, extremely reliable synchronisation with virtually all modern sync standards. Nuendo 5 also supports all major third-party controllers such as Euphonix, WK Audio and the Smart AV Tango.
