According to SAE, these will then be evaluated and awarded prizes by an international jury. The five categories to choose from are Music Production, Multimedia, Short Film, 3D FX Animation and Creativity First. In addition, the SAE Junior Awards will be presented, honouring the best graduation projects by SAE students from the four fields of study Audio Engineering, Web Design & Development, Digital Film & Animation, and Game Design. The winners will be announced on October 14 at the SAE Alumni Convention in Berlin, one of the largest industry meetings in the media sector.

Talent Wanted

The SAE Alumni Awards for outstanding productions in the audiovisual media industry have been presented since 2005. Since the competition began, well over 1,000 entries have been submitted and 30 prize-winners honoured. A specialist jury consisting of representatives from industry and SAE Institute assesses the submitted work and then selects one winner per category. The SAE Alumni Awards are organised by the SAE ALUMNI Association. SAE Institute’s alumni association established an extensive network providing media professionals with a worldwide umbrella that grows with every additional class. A central concern of the organisation is also to support SAE students beyond their period of study. The SAE Alumni Awards were created against this background.

The SAE Junior Awards are new this year. As part of the promotion of young talent, SAE Institute students can submit final projects that are likewise assessed by judges, in this case SAE instructors. Thanks to numerous sponsors, the winners of both awards can look forward to an iMac and 3,000 euros in cash each.

Götz Hannemann, Marketing Director at SAE Institute Germany: “At SAE Institute, we see it as our duty to support both SAE students and alumni in the best possible way and pave their way into professional life. We ensure this objective, among other things, by giving them the opportunity to present their projects to the public. Participation in an award therefore offers students and graduates a very special opportunity to gain attention outside SAE Institute as well, because the competition receives considerable attention among industry representatives.”
