Further films that caused a stir and won awards in recent months include the animated films “Anhalter” (Daniel Höpfner), “My Happy End” (Milen Vitanov), “Klotz und Klumpen” (Stephan Sacher and Michael Herm), “Chicken Wings” (Pauline Kortmann), “Never Drive A Car When You’re Dead” (Gregor Dashuber) and “Hokus Pokus” (Anna Samoylovich). Speaking of awards: in the first half of 2010 alone, HFF projects were among the leaders at 27 festivals and received prizes and nominations.
Time is not standing still in stereoscopy either: on May 11, the 23-minute tragicomedy “Topper gibt nicht auf!” premiered in Berlin. HFF students produced the first live-action 3D film from a German film university. The film was created as part of the S3D research project PRIME. PRIME stands for production and projection technologies for immersive media and is supported by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology.
HFF films are currently also represented in Shanghai. Seven HFF works will be shown in the German pavilion during the Expo as part of a short-film programme.
About the school:
The HFF “Konrad Wolf” Potsdam-Babelsberg is the only art university in the state of Brandenburg. It is the oldest and at the same time one of Germany’s most modern and largest film universities. Alongside classic degree programmes such as directing, cinematography, sound, editing, screenwriting/dramaturgy and production, the university’s training repertoire also includes film music, animation, scenography, acting and media studies. The renowned animation programme was founded at HFF in 1984 to train animation artists. Today’s training focuses on teaching design, craft and technological fundamentals across all classic and experimental 2D and 3D animation techniques. HFF provides its own budget and state-of-the-art technology for the training.
